Discover Plantin

The Truffle Institute, a place for discovering and learning about the "black diamond"

The Truffle Institute opened its doors in September 2019 in the village of Puyméras, in south-eastern France, a location surrounded by grapevines, olive trees, and… truffle fields. Sitting alongside PLANTIN’s production facilities and offices, this unique concept represents PLANTIN’s desire to open itself up to the public and introduce truffles to as many people as possible. The Truffle Institute is an educational space that’s accessible for all.

Dive into the world of truffles

From how to find the best truffles, to the most passionate producers, to the usage of meticulous expertise that treats each truffle like a precious diamond, PLANTIN will reveal to you all of the secrets of the mysterious world of truffles.

Your journey through this educational space will teach you about the different truffle species harvested in France, as well as the truffle’s life cycle, helping you understand symbiosis, the almost magical link that develops between trees and truffles.

The Truffle Institute will also explain what truffle hunting is and why producers use canifage, meaning test cuts, on truffles. You can also learn more about the main equipment used by truffle hunters.

Finally, to conclude your discovery of this legendary mushroom, you can watch a video that will tell you all about PLANTIN and its expertise passed down from generation to generation.

A lively space, perfect for connecting with people passionate about the "black diamond"

The Truffle Institute is an integral part of PLANTIN. As such, it’s not unusual to meet one of our truffle specialists in the Institute, sharing with an audience all of the secrets of this exceptional mushroom.

The Institute holds many events throughout the year to promote truffles and dried mushrooms, such as cooking workshops in which participants learn to cook (and taste!) original, gourmet dishes made from high-quality ingredients.

Behind the scenes of the plant…

To go even further and share with you its unique expertise, as of this year, PLANTIN invites you to take a guided tour of its production facilities, by reservation only. Accompanied by a professional, you can explore the different truffle and mushroom facilities to learn about our unique processes passed down through the generations.

With information in both English and French, the Truffle Institute offers the opportunity for people of all ages to discover and explore the world of truffles.
